Eric Abele is a multi-disciplinary artist and designer living and working in Baltimore, Maryland. Currently he is an Associate Teaching Professor at the University of Maryland Baltimore County Department of Theatre, where he also serves as Associate Chair and Undergraduate Program Director.  His research, with his colleague Lauren Roark, is developing digital rendering pedagogy for costume designers.  Together, they own Digital Theatre Design LLC and host courses to teach digital design using Procreate.

He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Dramatic Arts and German at Centre College and completed his Masters of Fine Art in Costume Design at the University of Tennessee.   Currently he's working on a BFA in Painting, Drawing, and Printmaking and a BS in Art History at Towson University.  After finishing in December 2025, he plans to attain a second freaking MFA in Studio Art.

 

He will never graduate.

Eric lives with his husband, Andrew, and adorable cat children.
